Not sure 1 star is accurate because the whole experience was not worth 1 star. The bartender after taking our order for 2 told us we hope you are not in a rush. We are busy today.
This is a great local bar/restaurant, food is good and staff is awesome. We had excellent carry out and catering services as well.

I try to get to the Pit at least once a month, food is great. My favorite is the pulled pork and there Cease Salad dressing is excellent! If you like potato salad, give it a shot I'm picky and it's just the way I like it! If you have an appetite bring a friend and try their Tour of the South! You probably won't finish it.
Yes all tables were full however, if you are cooking brisket and shoulders etc why would you not be ready by 1pm? We ordered the brisket platter and BBQ sliders, no apps and 2 drinks. The food too almost 1 hour to arrive. Clearly not off the grill. Barely warm.
No offer to deduct something from check for delay, nor apologize. Hell, some people had to wait for cleaner silverware and napkins.
Odd thing however, brisket only had smoke ring on 1 side. Clearly leftovers and reheated. But 1 hour, seriously!
Would I try again? Probably not.
Absolutely filthy upon walking in. Pricing changes depending on server. Flies everywhere. Food all over the floor- everywhere. Only went there because the rest of our group decided to stay since we were on a time crunch. Flabby sandwich. Waitress brought salad with my meal instead of before the main meal. The place was disgusting. Only gVe it one star because there was no option to go lower!
When ever I go through Jarrettsville I make sure I have time to stop at The Pit. Great food, cold beer and good service.
Best of luck JV Pit. Sounds like staffing issue and the kids working 11/4/17 really didn't care.
